Life Sciences, Biomedicine, and Health
The STS department has conducted research in this area for two decades. We focus on a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic approaches, some established and some cutting edge. We look into shifting understandings of health and human bodies, but also into the relation between research and public health interventions. Questions of care are here quite prominent, aiming at developing a fine-grained understanding of the concept. While some projects focus on the articulation of new medical technologies in specific cultural settings, others directly participate in the co-shaping of health-related technologies (e.g. data platforms).
