Biography
Ariadne is a PhD student at the STS Department and sows:docs fellow 2023. With this fellowship she currently investigates expectations of future AI-assisted translation technologies, ranging from neural machine translations to LLMs, and traces how these are inscribed into work routines and material practices around software engineering.
From 2022 to 2023, she conducted accompanying research within the LBG funded "Organising Co-creation" project. She was following co-creation processes as a form of societal involvement in knowledge production, studying how they were being institutionalized, organized and negotiated within the Action for Sustainable Future Hub. With this research she explored how co-created knowledge can be sustainably embedded in pre-existing organizational structures.
Before joining the STS Department, she graduated in Translation Studies and conducted archival research on German emigre academics in Turkish exile (1933-1945), e.g. Hans and Maria Reichenbach, Hilda Geiringer, Eva Röpke. With this transdisciplinary background, her research interests range from translation history, sociology of translation and sociology of translators, to responsible research and academic practice, societal involvement in knowledge production, now moving towards sociology of machine translation.
